Learn how-to Improve Security and Compliance by Automating AD and Azure AD Group Management
with Netwrix Directory Manager
Ensuring that every Active Directory and Azure AD group has exactly the right membership at all times is critical, because any improper group membership can give an attacker access to critical resources. This issue can be resolved by smart groups, which allow you to set up queries to assess and alter group’s membership when necessary, thus enabling you to restrict access to sensitive data and improve its security.
In the Netwrix Directory Manager console, expand Automate ⇒ Expand All Groups ⇒ Click Smart Groups ⇒ Open the properties of any smart group ⇒ Go to the Netwrix Directory Manager tab ⇒ Click Modify to open the Query Designer ⇒ Click Preview to see the group’s current membership ⇒ Click OK.
View and update a smart group’s membership in a few steps:
Create nested dynamic groups (parent and child dynasties):
To create a Dynasty, simply select Automate and the right-click All Groups ⇒ New ⇒ Dynasty ⇒ Specify the Group Scope and Types ⇒ Select Dynasty Templates ⇒ The wizard will guide you through the process of setting up the dynasty just the way you want.
